Lauragais: the land of wind and mills
Subject to oceanic and Mediterranean influences, Lauragais has a relatively nuanced climate, marked by hot and dry summers.
With more than 300 windy days per year, the Lauragais is the ideal playground for air masses with two prevailing winds :
- the CERS, northwest land wind, dry, cold in winter and hot in summer.
- Autan, southeast sea wind, hot and humid, sometimes violent. Frequently called "the sailor", "the crazy wind" or even "the devil's wind", it dominates the Lauragais with peaks of up to 100 to 120 km/hour!
