Description

This circuit will allow you to appreciate rural landscapes, typical of La Piège, with its hills, its farms and its views of the Pyrenees mountain range. Despite some somewhat steep climbs, this route is not very difficult and has a moderate elevation gain. For those who wish, you can also admire the small vernacular heritage (discoidal steles present in the cemetery located not far from the small church of Boutes). Don't miss either the very beautiful Château de Mézerville, which came close to the worst in 1965 before being restored from 1975. It currently offers guest rooms as well as a guest table.

Getting to the starting pointto report a problem

Step 1

Parking possible right in front of the castle. Then join the church. From the church, a grassy and marked path invites you to dive below the road and the castle. Follow this path through which you pass below the cemetery, before turning right to go straight down towards the Gardijol, the stream located not far from there. Once past the stream, you go up following the same path to the Janoutas farm.

Step 2

Arriving near the farm, keep to the left, the path takes you to the D717. You turn right to follow it for 300m

Step 3

Turn left to head towards the Janicou and Pédoc farms. You will follow the small road which passes among the farms.

Step 4

At the end of this road, you cross the courtyard of the Janicou farm. You find, at the back of the courtyard, a path which goes off to the left, quite sharply. Once past the stream, the

You turn right to follow this road for about 300m, to then find a wide dirt road on the left. This path leads to the Bérengou farm. Before heading there, those who wish can reach the Boutes site (300m away) via the private road on the right. This site offers a splendid panorama of the Pyrenees, as well as a church, with a charming wooded cemetery, in which you can discover the famous discoidal steles, an integral part of Lauragais' small heritage. Once back on the original route, you continue on the wide dirt road to reach a small road, not far from the Bérengou farm.

Step 6

Not far from the Bérengou farm, you come out on a small road, the D717, you turn right to take it for around 800m. Past the Estévenou farm, on the left, you find a path in the right turn. Take this path, you then follow a wood and join a small ridge road. Turn left to follow it, before turning right to go down through the woods. You will soon reach the access road to the old farm

Step 7

Near the Cammas farm, you find an intersection and turn right to reach your starting point, via a small ridge road. This section is almost flat, no more difficulties at this stage, you can enjoy the view!
